About

Ruth W. Rose is a Math Specialist for the Madison School System, sharing her time between Kathleen H. Ryerson School and Island Avenue School.  Previously, she taught third grade at J. Milton Jeffrey School and Island Avenue School.  She enjoys helping students construct their own mathematical ideas and concepts, which lead to an understanding of mathematical theorems and algorithms.  Mrs. Rose believes that math should be fun for students with lots of opportunities for hands-on activities and real-life applications.

Mrs. Rose earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, with Minors in Journalism and Multicultural Studies.  Her Master of Science Degree is in Educational Technology and she has recently completed her Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership, with administrative certification.

With a previous career in Journalism, and three grown children, Mrs. Rose feels fortunate to spend her days with elementary school children and those who care about them.  She lives with her husband and their managerie of pets, including work horses, llamas, goats, and dogs on their family’s tenth-generation family farm.
